This site was developed as a way of sharing the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith. A way to come closer to Jesus.
It came about as I reflected on what sport is most like the Christian faith. Is it volleyball, netball, basketball or ping-pong? Call me biased, but I concluded that the most similar sport is also the greatest: surfing. The ocean is truly an icon of God.
catholicsurfer.com will be the basis of a forthcoming book. Stoke: A Surfers Guide to the Catholic Faith.
My favourite break Down South (Western Australia)
- On West Oz…
- “The region’s consistency and variety of breaks is arguably unmatched anywhere else in the world. Unlike, say, the North Shore in Hawaii, which is very seasonal, the Capes region cranks all year round. There’s perhaps no more reliable quality surfing anywhere in the world.” (Peter Rigby, Tracks)

“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them!” Psalm 127:4-5
Check out the photo of my work buddy. He shares the two great things in his life with his kids: Surfing and the Catholic Faith.
Another workmates claim to fame with the footage below making it into a surf movie.
The sequence doesn’t show the blood from putting a tooth through his lip
